Light microscopy analyzes dynamics and structures within living and unperturbed cells and tissues. This is one of the key aspects that differentiate it from other types of microscopy.

For live cell imaging sessions, a range of features such as water immersion lenses, an autofocus unit, and environmental control chambers are crucial, but the key to extended life cell imaging is minimizing the light dose which is applied to the sample.
